I love it when....

When word verifications resemble (or are) real words. A real example: "flurti". (BTW, why is the internet symbol for any kind of security the same as for wheelchair accessibility?! Something about that just isn't right...)

When I just keep refreshing the "post a comment" page on Vince Waller's blog and get a non-stop stream of randomly generated hilarious words. None have ever topped "pootomid", though.....

Neat blog have you have, Zoran. I think you're already a great cartoonist from what I can tell by your drawings. Don't be so hard on yourself (believe me, I do that a lot with my own cartoon drawings) and just have fun with what you're doing and practice! I'd love to see more posts.

Thanks for the kind words, men!

The drawings are already pretty old, as it happens. The Tony Soprano looks like a bunch of semi-random, disconnected hatching to me. Far too little in the way of volume, or a real grasp of how the light source affects the subject beyond "here it's light, here it's dark, don't know why, laah-laah-luuuhh..."

I actually did a decent study of Wilson Pickett the other day. You wouldn't know it now, though, because then I decided to start rendering it, and I mean RENDERING, in PEN!!! GOD, I'M SUCH AN IDIOT!!! I knew I was doing something foolish, but I wanted to see exactly how much control/tocuh I had, so I chose the most anti-textural medium in the world to distinguish the surfaces of fabric, skin and hair from one another. Sure enough, it looks like those horrifying early Archie covers John K posted years ago - or it would, if I even finished it.

On the bright side, my Blair hands from today are pretty damn good - form, proportions coming along nicely. And my eggheads actually turn without melting!
